Footprints in the Sand

First of our graphic tee line up is the Script Logo Tee. In order to build our brand and our name, we wanted a piece that puts our name at center stage, without being too loud yet filled with meaning. This design is a way of breaking out of our simple logo, allowing us to explore more creative and expressive ways of presenting the brand.
The handwritten font style gives out a more human and grounded impression, but also that of a free-flowing kind of style to reinforce this breaking out of our simplistic mould, while keeping our ethos of Understated Faithwear.
To add another layer to the design is the application of a seamless gradient from warm to cool tones; from yellow to dark blue. We called this colorway 'Sand' because it is inspired by the timeless Footprints in the Sand poem by Mary Stevenson. The fade from yellow to blue represents the shoreline to the depths of the sea, and every color in between.
This actually gave us a bit of a challenge as the usual silkscreen print method have nuances when it comes to gradients like this. Because of how some printing methods have developed over the years, we were able to find one that can bring our vision for this shirt to life while retaining the print quality, durability, and consistency.

While a lot of this design choice is inspired by the poem, our creative director believes that the shoreline is a representation of our spiritual walk. In life, we either tread on safe shallow shores or find ourselves deep in challenges and problems. However, we must always remember that Jesus promised to always walk with us, if we surrender, accept, and let Him lead our lives.
"And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age" — Matthew 28:20
We hope that this is just the start of a series of Logo Tees for Salty & Lit. We believe that there are lots of ways to express our mission and vision through thoughtful designs, even as simple as typography—ones that can add value to wardrobes while having stories to tell.
Here's Mary Stevenson's poem:
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand.
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."
